The Loop Chair is defined by its crisp geometry and confident lines. Crafted from solid ash with a natural or dark stain finish, the frame is sturdy and expressive in its simplicity. Every piece is made to order in Johannesburg. Shipments depart for New York on a regular schedule, and once landed, U.S. delivery typically takes about a week.

Standard delivery is curbside, with white-glove service available on request.

Because each piece is made to order, returns aren’t accepted unless an item arrives damaged or faulty — if so, contact us within 7 days and we’ll resolve it quickly.
Full Description

The Loop Chair is a geometric chair designed with precision and restraint. Its clean-lined frame is made from solid ash- a classic solid wood chair material that brings warmth and integrity to the form. The bent, powder-coated aluminium backrest introduces a structural contrast, giving the piece a distinct silhouette that’s both functional and refined.

Whether used as a dining chair, accent chair, or occasional chair, the Loop offers versatility across different spaces. It works as well in dining room seating arrangements as it does in kitchen seating setups or as part of curated living room seating. The optional leather-upholstered seat adds comfort while maintaining the chair’s sculptural intent.

As part of a set or styled solo, the Loop Chair is an expressive piece of seating that balances everyday practicality with a designer’s eye for form.

Founded in 2007 by industrial designer Adriaan Hugo and graphic designer Katy Taplin, Dokter and Misses is a Johannesburg-based multi-disciplinary design studio. Born from a shared vision of functional artistry, we make furniture, lighting, and objects that challenge conventions and reinterpret everyday forms.

Each piece is a testament to our belief that design should be both beautiful and practical—objects that live with you and make a statement.

When will my order be ready?

Most of our pieces are made to order. Standard production takes about 6 weeks, followed by 4 weeks shipping from South Africa and 3–5 business days final delivery within the U.S.Sometimes we have products or components in stock that can shorten this timeline. If you’re working toward a deadline, let us know and we’ll see what’s possible.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If you need to adjust your order, please reach out as soon as possible. Once production has started, changes or cancellations may not be possible.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Please inspect your piece when it arrives. If it’s damaged or incorrect, let us know within 7 days at sales@dokterandmisses.com, with:

  • A photo of the issue
  • A photo of the packaging
    This helps us resolve the matter quickly.

Do you accept returns?

Because each item is made to order, we don’t accept returns or exchanges unless your order is damaged or incorrect.

How is delivery handled?

Standard delivery is roadside. If you’d like white-glove service (inside placement, unpacking, or installation), let us know at checkout or by email.If your address has limited access (stairs, narrow roads, gates, etc.), please tell us in advance so we can plan accordingly.
