All Dokter and Misses pieces are made in Johannesburg, South Africa, by a close network of artisans and fabricators we’ve worked with for many years. Each item is finished, assembled, and inspected in our studio before shipping.
Yes. Orders for the U.S. are shipped from Johannesburg with regular consolidated shipments that arrive in New York approximately every six weeks. From there, delivery within the U.S. typically takes 3–7 days. Shipping costs and timelines are confirmed when you request a quote.
Standard delivery is curbside. If you’d prefer white-glove service — with placement, unpacking, or installation — just let us know when you request your quote. If access is tricky (narrow streets, gates, or stairs), it is imperative to have this information so that we can get everything there smoothly.
We ship worldwide. For deliveries outside the U.S., please submit a quote request and we’ll calculate shipping and lead time based on your location.
We do keep some items in stock, in which case it'll depend where in the world you are.
Most pieces are made to order. Standard lead times range from 8–12 weeks, depending on scale and finish. Transit times are additional and confirmed once your order is ready to ship.
Please inspect your piece when it arrives. If it’s damaged or incorrect, let us know within 7 days at info@dokterandmisses.com, with:
- A photo of the issue
- A photo of the packaging
This helps us resolve the matter quickly.
As each piece is made to order, we can’t offer returns or exchanges unless there is a manufacturing fault or shipping damage. If something arrives not as expected, contact us immediately and we’ll resolve it.
Yes. Many of our designs can be customized in size, colour, or finish. For special requests, get in touch — we’ll guide you through options and feasibility.
If you need to adjust your order, please reach out as soon as possible. Once production has started, changes or cancellations may not be possible but we always try.
We photograph all products carefully, but colour may vary slightly depending on lighting and screen calibration. Powder coat and timber samples can be requested if you need exact matches.
Our pieces are designed to last with simple care. Wipe powder-coated and metal surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Use a mild cleaner on timber and avoid harsh abrasives or solvents. A detailed care guide can be found here.
Our work is available to view by appointment in New York. You can also explore select pieces through our partner galleries and showrooms — contact us for current locations.
Yes. We offer trade terms for interior designers, architects, and procurement professionals. Please reach out to discuss your project and we’ll provide details.
We design for longevity — durable materials, local manufacturing, and timeless form. Our approach values repairability and small-scale production over mass manufacture.
You can reach us anytime at info@dokterandmisses.com. We respond during business hours (please note that our team is sprinkled all over the world) and are always glad to talk through questions, details, or special requests.
