Who are We

If we haven’t already met, hello. We’re Dokter and Misses, a Johannesburg-based design studio led by Adriaan Hugo and Katy Taplin. Our backgrounds in Industrial and Graphic Design merge in a shared love for experimentation, play and innovation.

We design everything from one-off collectables to mass-produced pieces for institutions—and everything in between. After more than 15 years, we still finish each other’s sentences. Our work continues to evolve, but one thing stays the same: we design with feeling. Think colour, character, and sculptural function. Always something a little unexpected.

We’ve been doing this for a long time — and so have
our products. Life happens. Things scratch. Things
break. When it does, we’re here.

We offer a repair and refurbishment service on DAM
pieces. There’s a small charge, but it’s a
sustainable way to refresh your favourite items and
keep them in play for years to come.
