Every piece is made to order in Johannesburg. Shipments depart for New York on a regular schedule, and once landed, U.S. delivery typically takes about a week.

Standard delivery is curbside, with white-glove service available on request.

Because each piece is made to order, returns aren’t accepted unless an item arrives damaged or faulty — if so, contact us within 7 days and we’ll resolve it quickly.

The Dorado Stool is a bold, stackable stool made from powder-coated steel and available in a variety of colours and heights. Designed to be seen- whether in bright primary tones or more subdued shades. It’s a colourful stool that brings energy and functionality to any setting.

Its clean silhouette and compact footprint make it a versatile modern stool for everyday use. Whether you’re furnishing a breakfast nook, setting up extra seating in a creative space, or looking for a punch of colour in your dining area, the Dorado adapts easily. Use it as a kitchen stool, bar stool, counter stool, or dining stool. It fits neatly wherever you place it, and stacks away when not in use.

Who We Are


Founded in 2007 by industrial designer Adriaan Hugo and graphic designer Katy Taplin, Dokter and Misses is a Johannesburg-based multi-disciplinary design studio. Born from a shared vision of functional artistry, we make furniture, lighting, and objects that challenge conventions and reinterpret everyday forms.

Each piece is a testament to our belief that design should be both beautiful and practical—objects that live with you and make a statement.

When will my order be ready?

Most of our pieces are made to order. Standard production takes about 6 weeks, followed by 4 weeks shipping from South Africa and 3–5 business days final delivery within the U.S.Sometimes we have products or components in stock that can shorten this timeline. If you’re working toward a deadline, let us know and we’ll see what’s possible.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If you need to adjust your order, please reach out as soon as possible. Once production has started, changes or cancellations may not be possible.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Please inspect your piece when it arrives. If it’s damaged or incorrect, let us know within 7 days at sales@dokterandmisses.com, with:

  • A photo of the issue
  • A photo of the packaging
    This helps us resolve the matter quickly.

Do you accept returns?

Because each item is made to order, we don’t accept returns or exchanges unless your order is damaged or incorrect.

How is delivery handled?

Standard delivery is roadside. If you’d like white-glove service (inside placement, unpacking, or installation), let us know at checkout or by email.If your address has limited access (stairs, narrow roads, gates, etc.), please tell us in advance so we can plan accordingly.
